    • Who are we?

      SIAL-FLE is a Sorbonne University service offering French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses to non-native speakers wishing to improve their spoken and/or written French. Courses are open to Sorbonne University students and adults from outside the university.


      Our courses

      We offer French as a foreign language courses ranging from A1 (beginner) to C1 (advanced) level, with the following options:

      • Intensive courses
      • Semester courses
      • University Diploma FLE
      • Preparation courses for French language certifications


      The French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses we offer range from level A1 to C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and correspond to internationally recognised certifications.

      They cover a rich and varied range of French language teaching, from culture and civilisation to creative writing, methodology and grammar.


      ⚠️ Registration only gives access to courses and not to all Sorbonne Université services. It does not entitle participants to a Sorbonne University student card or to obtain or extend a student visa.


    • Who can enroll?

      Our courses are open to all adults:

      • Sorbonne University students
      • students from other universities
      • employees and jobseekers


      How do I enroll?

      You can only register for a course using the registration form on our website, in the section corresponding to the course you are interested in (intensive course, semester course, preparation course, university diploma).

      Registrations open a few weeks before the start of the course for intensive courses and semester courses. University diplomas have a separate timetable.

      ⚠️ Registration only gives access to courses and not to all Sorbonne Université services. It does not entitle the participant to a Sorbonne University student card and does not allow the student to obtain or extend a student visa.

    • There are three sessions of intensive courses that are offered in the academic year 2025-2026. They take place in :

      • September 
      • January
      • July

      The intensive course is a 2-week course that lasts 30 or 40 hours in total (3h/day). In June, it is possible to extend the course to 3 weeks (44h in total).

      Several courses are available in different language levels (beginners to advanced).

      ⚠️ Enrolling in the intensive course does not mean that you are enrolling at Sorbonne Université. You won't be considered a student at Sorbonne Université and won't get a student visa.

      Registration in not open until Thursday, 18 December 2025 at 12:00 noon (Paris time).

    • The semester courses last 13 weeks (2h to 4h/week of class) and have one or several graded evaluations.

      There are 3 possible modalities:  1. face-to face     2. remote access  3. hybrid +

      If you are not a student of the Faculty of Humanities (Faculté des Lettres) of Sorbonne University, a certificate of attendance (indicating your final grade) will be delivered to you at the end of the course. 

      ⚠️ Enrolling in the semester courses does not mean that you are enrolling at Sorbonne Université. You won't be considered a student at Sorbonne Université and won't get a student visa.

    • Next semester courses (S2 2025/2026) :

      From January 26 to May 15, 2026

      Enrollment dates :

      Registration will take place from January 19 to February 6, 2026.

    • The university degree ‘French as a Foreign Language - French for university purposes’: B2 level of CEFR

      The university degree ‘French as a Foreign Language - French for university purposes’ offers the possibility to certify level B2 of the CEFR in French. Acquiring this level is necessary for the pursuit of studies in French higher education.

      ⚠️ University Degree diploma is entirely remote therefore you cannot apply for a student visa

    • The university degree ‘French as a Foreign Language - French for university purposes’: C1 level of  CEFR. 

      The university degree ‘French as a Foreign Language - French for university purposes’ offers the possibility to certify level C1 of the CEFR in French. Acquiring this level is necessary for the pursuit of studies in French higher education.

      ⚠️ The DU is an online course which means that you cannot apply for a student visa if you enroll in this course.


    • Next session of DU FLE B2 and C1 :

      From January to May 2026

      Enrollment dates : 

      Registration has been extended from October 13 to November 14, 2025.

    • Enrollment in  DU University Degree is made with  e-Candidat platform.

    • In order to give you the necessary methodology and training to succeed in the exam, SIAL-FLE gives you the possibility to follow preparation courses for the SELFEE, DELF and DALF.

      ⚠️ Enrolling in the French language tests preparation course does not mean that you are enrolling at Sorbonne Université. You won't be considered a student at Sorbonne Université and won't get a student visa.



    • Next French language tests preparation course : 

      From January 5 to Februay 6 2026

      Enrollment dates : 

      Registration for DELF B2 / DALF C1 certification preparation courses will take place from Monday, January 5 at 12:00 p.m. (Paris time) to Friday, February 6, 2026.
