I) First of all, I would begin by asking the patient how they feel mentally and physically about their sports practice and their overall experience with it. I would then explain that practicing sports safely requires a healthy lifestyle and good balance. I would encourage them to maintain a consistent sleep routine and, if possible, go to bed before 10:30 pm in order to support recovery. Staying well hydrated by drinking at least 1,5 liters of water per day is also essential. I would emphasize the importance of keeping a balanced life by spending time with family and friends outside of sports, as this helps clear the mind and reduces pressure. When it comes to the sport itself, I would advise them to challenge themselves while also learning to accept defeat from a mental perspective. Physically, they should always listen to their body and respect its limits to avoid injury. I would also encourage them to stay active daily, for example by walking around 10 000 steps.
II) I would ask several questions to better understand their relationship with sport. From a mental perspective, following the recommendations of Dr. Ashwin Rao, I would ask what their goals are in practicing their sport and how it makes them feel mentally. I would want to know whether the sport contributes to their mental well-being and enjoyment. From a physical perspective, I would ask whether they feel comfortable in their body and whether they experience any pain. If they do, I would explore where the pain occurs and whether it could possibly be connected to stress or emotional causes.
