I would say : “Sports are awesome for your body and your brain, but it’s super important to stay safe. Always wear the right gear, like helmets or shin guards, and make sure you warm up properly before practice. Listen to your body — if you feel dizzy, really tired, or hit your head, don’t try to push through it. Tell your coach or a parent right away. And remember, playing on a team is fun, but your health always comes first. It’s better to sit one game out than risk a serious injury that could last a long time.”

I’d ask :

“Have you ever had a concussion or hit your head really hard while playing sports?”

“Do you have any injuries right now or something that makes it hard to move?”

“How do you usually feel after practice : tired, dizzy, or completely fine?”

“Do you feel comfortable telling your coach or teammates if you’re hurt?”

“What sports do you enjoy the most, and how often do you play?”

You’re absolutely right—sports are an incredible way to stay healthy, build confidence, and have fun, but safety should always be the top priority. Your advice about wearing the right protective gear, warming up properly, and listening to your body is spot-on. It’s so important to recognize when something doesn’t feel right, whether it’s dizziness, fatigue, or a head injury. Speaking up to a coach or parent might feel tough in the moment, but it’s the smartest thing you can do. No game or practice is worth risking long-term health, and taking care of yourself ensures you can keep playing the sports you love for years to come.
