Here is my advice for athletes. Sports are amazing for your body and mind, but safety comes first. Wear the right gear. Warm up. Hydrate. Use proper techniques. Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, have headaches, or notice anything unusual.
I always ask my patients: Have you had a concussion or injury before? Do you get dizzy or sick during play? Are you trained in safe techniques? How do you feel mentally and emotionally about your sport?
Remember, protecting your brain and body now keeps you in the game longer. Listen to your coaches and teammates, they can help keep you safe. And most importantly, have fun while playing!
